Christ Apostolic Church
(Bethel) UK
Our Story
Christ Apostolic Church (Bethel) UK is the pioneering Christ Apostolic Church established outside of Africa. Founded in 1974 by the late Apostle Ayotunde Omideyi, our vibrant, black majority-led church has community service at its heart. Beginning modestly in Apostle Omideyi’s bedsit, our congregation quickly outgrew its initial space, prompting a move to 52 Priory Road, Haringey, London.
Under Apostle Omideyi’s leadership, the church experienced rapid membership growth. By 1976, we were renting the Campsbourne Baptist Church to accommodate our expanding congregation. On June 4, 1980, we relocated to our current premises, a complex that includes the historic Church of St. Columba in Haggerston. This Grade I-listed building, designed by renowned architect James Brooks and dating back to 1868, is part of a larger site that also houses the Clergy House and the Sisters’ House.
